Welcome to our General Travel Information

Here you will be able to find our recommendations and information on where to go and what to see, for the countries we have visited.
If you have been to any of these places and you have tips that we have missed out on, please let us know and we will add them to my website too.

We are still in the process of writing the pages of all the links below. If there is anything you'd like to know, but it isn't on there, chances are that we have not had the chance to write up about that particular subject yet. If this is the case, just e-mail Marjolijn on mafgirl@hotmail.com and I will answer your question as soon as I'll read your e-mail.

The best advice we have been given is; Be open minded, respect the country and culture you are in and go with the flow, just see what happens.
Most things you want to do, you can find on line. We've listed a lot of good websites where you can find what you're looking for, but it doens't mean that there is nothing else available. Use search machines such as Google or Yahoo to see if there are better deals out there.
For general flights STA Travel is good and so is Flight Centre.
Accomodation is always easy to find, the cheapest places to stay are hostels. If you're going to travel for more than a few months it is a good idea to become a member of Hostelling International, they provide good hostels and usually the card gives you discounts on your accomodation and tourist attractions too. However, do not limit yourself to these hostels only, a lot of great hostels are not a member of HI, so look in your guide book and search online.
THE best travel guide you can have is Lonely Planet. You can find these in most bookshops, but you can also buy them on line for pretty much the same price. Just don't forget, use your guide as a guide only (hence the name), always get up to date and 'off-the-beaten-track' info from fellow travellers, locals and/or staff at your hostel.

It is easy to be overwhelmed with too much information, so stick to advice from others and/or ask at the local information centre. If you are on a tight budget, shop around, you'll find it cheap eventually!
